Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar, a resident of Bundi, Rajasthan, was recently taken into custody by Mumbai Police in relation to threats directed on actor Salman Khan. The arrest comes after a dramatic incident earlier this year in Mumbai's Bandra district, where gunshots were fired outside Salman Khan's home.

The Threat and Arrest

Gujar, 25, is accused of making threats against Salman Khan in a video that he uploaded to his YouTube account. In the video, Gujar claims to be a member of criminal organisations. After seeing this footage, which was shot on a highway in Rajasthan, Mumbai Police sent a squad to look into it. Gujar has been accused of criminal intimidation and making threats online in accordance with relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indian Penal Code.

Background of the Incident

Unidentified riders on motorcycles shot several rounds outside Salman Khan's house in April. Six people were taken into custody after the investigation, one of them unfortunately committed suicide while in police custody.

Wider Criminal Network

The event has also highlighted larger criminal networks, revealing the participation of members of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs, among others. Bishnoi, who is presently serving a prison sentence in Gujarat, may be transferred to Mumbai to face relevant charges. According to investigations, there were intentions to attack Salman Khan, and surveillance was done at places the star frequently visited.

At this point, the focus of the authorities is on figuring out Gujar's criminal past and potential linkages to organised crime.
